Biography
Rob Golombek received his Liberal Arts Bachelor's Degree from Augustana College (IL) in the spring of 2004. While attending Augustana, he majored in Visual Arts and minored in Art History. Rob participated in wrestling and baseball and earned 3 varsity letters in athletics along with the most improved freshman award on the wrestling team.
Following graduation, he decided to pursue a firefighter’s certification. Rob obtained his Firefighter II certification in the fall of 2004. Upon completion, he would then start substitute teaching and coaching at his former high school, Streamwood High School, located in Streamwood, IL. At SHS, Rob coached football, wrestling, and baseball for 2 seasons.
In May of 2006, Rob and his Fiancé, Melissa, bought their first home in Belvidere, IL. The two then relocated jobs in the Rockford area. He would continue substitute teaching and coaching in the Belvidere School district. In 2007, he decided to pursue his master’s degree in education, while also attaining his teaching certificate. To complete this task he decided to enroll at Rockford College in Rockford, IL. Throughout his time at Rockford College, Rob and Melissa had their first child, Jackson, in the summer of 2008.
Rob did his student teaching at Belvidere North High School in the fall of 2008. Throughout this time he taught three introductory art classes, one second year class, and one advanced art class. Student teaching lasted for one semester of the school year. Belvidere North was the school that he had coached and substituted for previously. In the spring of 2009, Rob graduated from Rockford College with his Masters Degree in Teaching and his K-12 art certificate.
Rob started full time teaching this past year at Challand Middle School in Sterling, IL. At Challand, Rob would be the lone art teacher. He would handle orders, budget, lessons, and solely run the art program for the middle school. Rob was up to the challenge and very eager to start his professional teaching career.
Rob and his family moved to Tucson, Arizona in 2011. He continues to teach at the middle school level. Rob attained his second Master's Degree, this time in Educational Administration. On top of his teaching responsibilities, Rob assumes the role of Athletic Director at the Academy of Tucson Middle School. Rob and his wife, Melissa will be expecting their second child in August and are eager to grow professional and personally.
